The Five Dysfunctions of a Team

The Five Dysfunctions of a TeamThe Five Dysfunctions of a Teamby Patrick LencioniI recommend this book for anyone who is an aspiring team leader or current leader.  It highlights the common problems teams face and offers simple and practical steps to correct them.  The main story is about a female leader who takes over a dysfunctional team and works through the five dysfunctions to create a more effective team.  It is written in a style that a high school student could read, which at times can feel a bit pedantic, but it does show leaders how to handle many of the common challenges they will face such as how to handle a resentful and passive aggressive team member.  What I like is it's a quick and easy read that will provide you with a useful roadmap and how to handle those conversations with team members which most leaders might find awkward and painful.  At the end of the book, the author also offers straightforward and manageable exercises to improve five dysfunctions in addition to online tools and resources you can explore.
